SSOU celebrates 70th Independence Day
Our country’s 70th Independence Day was celebrated with great fervor and spirit at Symbiosis Skills and Open University (SSOU) at its Kiwale Campus adjoining Mumbai Pune Express way. Present on the occasion were Shri Nitin Kalje, Mayor PCMC, Er S. P. Ranade, Ex MD MITCON, President and Founder, Symbiosis Padma Bhushan Dr. S. B. Mujumdar & Dr. Swati Mujumdar, Principal Director, Symbiosis Open Education Society (SOES), Symbiosis Skills & Open University (SSOU) .
Dr. S. B. Mujumdar, Dr. Swati Mujumdar, Shri Nitin Kalje, Mayor PCMC and Er S. P. Ranade motivated the students with their speeches and encouraged everyone to become involved in the skill India movement.
Padma Bhushan Dr. Mujumdar, President and Founder, Symbiosis spoke about the importance of Skill. He said said that Skill development is an important driver for industrial and economic growth of India. To crystallize our Hon’ble Prime Minister’s Skill India and Make in India vision, a large pool of skilled workforce has to be created quickly. India is the youngest country in the world and in order to reap the advantages of demographic dividend, we must provide our youth with skills and encourage them to enter the world of work.
Dr. Swati Mujumdar enlightened the audience about SSOU and its mission and vision. The students will be exposed to latest cutting edge technologies through specialized skill training labs & Centres of Excellence set up with industry input on the University campus. Flexible learning pathways, with credit banking & transfer, multi-entry & exit, recognition of prior learning are some of the unique features which sets this University apart from a Conventional University. In addition, SSOU will use innovative technology solutions to deliver education to students located in remote corners.
Dr. Shravan Kadvekar, Director extended the vote of thanks. The function was followed by a cultural program organized by SSOU students. In fact, Independence Day Celebration was the first event planned, organized and conducted by SSOU’s first batch of students. It was a proud moment for all!
