On 25th January 2019, Symbiosis Skills and Open University and JP research signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to set up “Centre of Excellence for Road Safety” at SSOU, Kiwale Pune. This centre aims to conduct automotive safety related research and provide technical trainings for safety professionals from government, industry and academia.
SSOU is Maharashtra’s first Skill Development University situated at Kiwale, Pune. The University has state-of-the art campus with specialised laboratories, workshops and centres of excellence. SSOU offers Certificates, Diplomas and Degree programs in high growth sectors such as Automobile, Construction, Mechatronics, Architecture, Retail, Ports & Terminal Management, and Beauty & Wellness.
JP Research India Pvt. Ltd. is a subsidiary of JP Research, Inc. which is a leading US statistical and engineering research firm. JP Research is dedicated to road and automotive safety research in India. It is involved in crash investigations, reconstructions, injury analysis, in-depth data collection methodologies and crash database development since past 12 years.
As a part of this partnership, JP Research will conduct seminars/workshops/field visits on the topic of automotive safety, crash investigation and crash reconstruction to educate and bring awareness about the science of road safety amongst the students and faculty of SSOU. A course on Automotive Crash Safety Research and Road Safety Engineering will also be developed which will include hands-on training on the associated techniques. Engineers and certified accident reconstructionists of JP Research will conduct the theory and practical sessions for this course. JP research will also offer internships and full time job opportunities to students of SSOU.

Mr. Ajit Dandapani, CEO, JP Research talked about the mission of the company and how JPRI’s traffic safety research activities are enabling the society and Government to achieve a quantifiable return-on-investment in terms of lives saved and injuries mitigated. He also conducted a session for students on road security and safety.
