Symbiosis Skills & Open University celebrated UN World Youth Skills Day at
its campus in Kiwale, adjoining Pune -Mumbai Expressway on July 15.

United Nations (UN) has set July 15 as “World Youth Skills” day with an objective to understand what works to support young people in today’s and tomorrow’s job market and how it can be achieved through training and skill development.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Swati Mujumdar, Principal Director, Symbiosis Open Education Society (SOES) said, “The main idea behind organizing “SymbiSkills” is to reach out to youth across the State and encourage them to acquire skills that will make them market ready and enable them to achieve their dreams. With proper guidance and training, we can harness the potential of this young generation. The event has provided students a platform to engage with industry experts and get exposed to latest trends and technologies in various high growth sectors such as automobile, mechatronics, construction, retail, beauty & wellness etc. Visits to SSOU workshop with industry standard machinery & learning factories has helped students and parents appreciate the revolution SSOU is bringing with its focus on experiential learning”

The Chief Guest of the event was Vishal Chordia, Entrepreneur & Director, Suhana Pravin Masalewale. There were also other dignitaries like Dhanraj Pillay,( Ex- Indian Hockey Captain), Deepti Shrikant ( Marathi Actress), Parag Kanhere (Celebrity Chef), RJ Sangram ( F M Radio) and RJ Kedar who graced the occasion. The daylong event had a series of activities like Auto Feast where participants took test drives. In the Skill Will activity, visits were planned to specialized Skill Labs imported from Germany and Learning Factories, set up in collaboration with industry on the University campus. Girls were seen making a beeline to the Symbiosis-Enrich Academy to get their makeovers done by Enrich Salon experts. Students specially enjoyed the quizzes and games organized as part of this event. Guardians and students from across the city were seen attending the event in large numbers.

Symbiosis Skills & Open University is spread over 15 acre state of the art campus comprising administrative building, academic buildings, workshop, skill centre, library, auditorium, hostels for boys & girls, faculty accommodation, sports & recreational facilities etc. Admissions are underway for B.Tech and BBA programs in high growth sectors such as Automobile, Construction, Ports & Terminal Management, Logistics, Retail and Beauty & Wellness.
