SSOU signs MOU with Hochschule Konstanz University of Applied Sciences, Germany

On 20th November, 2017, Symbiosis Skills & Open University, the first Skill University in the State signed a MOU with
Hochschule Konstanz University of Applied Sciences, Germany in the University campus at Kiwale, adjoining Pune-Mumbai Expressway

Present on the occassion were Dr. Swati Mujumdar, Pro-Chancellor, SSOU, Prof. Dr. Beate Berge, Vice President of Teaching and Quality Assurance, Dr. Andreas Grossman, Dr. Konstantin Hassemer, Dr. Ditmat Ihleuburg, Dr. Matthias Werner from Hochschule Konstanz University of Applied Sciences, Germany. Representing SSOU were various directors of schools including Dr. Sanjay Arole, Prof Milind Kulkarni, Dr. Pankaja Bagul, Dr. Meesha Deshpande, Registrar Dr. Manik Jadhav, Dr. Jitender Sharma and Shravan Kadvekar.

The Hochschule Konstanz University of Applied Sciences (HTWG) is located in the southernmost part of the Federal Republic of Germany, in the state of Baden-Württemberg. It originated from the Higher Technical Institute for Mechanical, Electrical and Civil Engineering, which was founded in 1906 through a private initiative.

The primary mission of HTWG is to educate talented men and women in engineering, science, design, and management in preparation for careers in professional practice. HTWG is a modern technical university with a hands-on approach which focuses on interdisciplinary instruction and integrating theory and practice throughout the curriculum. It offers career-oriented higher education at the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels in 20 technical and professional fields including Engineering, Architecture, Computer Science, Business Administration and the highly competitive fields of Applied Communication and Culture, Management and Technology, and Communications Design. In addition, 13 Master’s Degree programs offer course opportunities at the post-graduate level. Currently HTWG has formal partnerships and student and staff exchange programs with 56 higher education institutions in 28 countries.

The main agenda of the MOU is to facilitate educational exchanges in a Knowledge Partnership to strengthen the existing cultural and educational links between both institutions, Hochschule Konstanz University of Applied Sciences (HTWG Konstanz) and Symbiosis Skills and Open University (SSOU).

The specific areas of cooperation between the two institutions may include, but are not limited to the following: :-

  • Mutual co-operation between HTWG Konstanz and SSOU as Knowledge Partners
    a. for Curricula development
    b. for Workshop/lab setup
  • Support in industry engagement
  • Train the trainer programs
  • Exchange of students
  • Internship programs for students
  • Joint academic programs
  • Exchange of faculty and staff
  • Joint research projects
  • Seminars, workshops and other events
  • Implementation of cultural programs including interdisciplinary programs

Subject to mutual consent, the area of cooperation includes any program offered at either institution in which the two institutions believe cooperation is feasible and desirable and which could contribute to fostering and developing a mutually beneficial relationship between the two institutions. Modalities for the areas of cooperation shall be worked out and described individually in separate agreements with mutual consent of the partnering institutions keeping regulations, rules, policies and guidelines of each partner in view.
