Executive MBA in Public Policy and Administration

The program encompasses a range of specialized areas — public administration, public policy, global policy — all grounded in the perspective that policy challenges are fluid, interconnected and global. Students will learn to think across diverse groups and boundaries. Students will be introduced to the study of public administration in a fast changing environment of globalized phenomenon.

The two-year Executive MBA program in Public Policy and Administration offered by SSOU will equip the students to tackle new challenges in the context of globalization, liberalization & rapid technology advancements, as well as social issues of poverty, equality & equity. The focus will be on developing conceptual, technical and analytical skills for public policy making and administration.

First year, will focus on building the conceptual understanding of the students. Core subjects will include Economics, Finance, Policy frameworks, Policy Analysis, Approaches, Issues in Public Policy and Administration etc.

In the second year, the students will be able to choose electives across domains, which will enable them to specialize in niche areas. Some of the aspects covered in the second year include Public Budgeting and Financial Management, International Relations & Foreign Policy, Public Health, Media & Public Policy, Urban Governance, Public Policy Regulations, Reforming Public Sector Enterprises, Public-Private Partnerships etc.

MBA with Public Policy & Administration track is most suited for those who want to take up leadership positions in the public service. It hones skills of students to develop, evolve and implement policies in the public domain. It is a much sought after program that creates opportunities for students in public services, government as well as private sector all across. It involves learning on campus in week-end teaching.

Two years, week end batches

Any graduate from a recognized university with minimum 55% marks (45% for reserved category), and two years of work experience

While deciding the eligibility of the Candidates following procedure shall be adopted -
(a) The percentage of marks shall be calculated by rounding off to nearest integer. i.e. if the percentage of marks comes out to be 44.50% to 44.99% then it shall be rounded to 45% and if the percentage of marks comes out to be 44.01% to 44.49% shall be rounded to 44% for deciding the eligibility.

(b) In case the maximum marks in an individual subject is other than 100, the marks will be converted out of 100 for individual subject without rounding, If sum of the converted marks of individual subjects without rounding off works out to be a figure with fraction then fraction up to two decimal places shall only be considered for calculation of percentage of marks considering maximum marks as 300 and, If the percentage comes in fraction, then rounding off shall be done as above to decide the eligibility.

Note 1 - Academic Fees includes Tuition fees, Regular exam fees, Library books & e-journals, Laboratory fees , these fees are refundable according to UGC policy.
Medical Fees of Rs. 5500/- for basic medical facilities on campus are Non-Refundable.

Note 2 -

  • Hostel & Mess Fees include Hostel Stay and Mess/Dining charges.
  • Laundry services shall be available for a separate fee (to be announced later). Students who wish to avail laundry facility shall have to pay requisite fees in advance for the whole year along with hostel fees. Interested students should confirm to University office at the time of admission.
  • Laundry fees are non refundable.

Note 3 -

  • Academic fees shall be increased up to 15% each year as per the University policies during the period of the program at the discretion of the Management.
  • Revised fees will be applicable to new and existing students.

Other Notes-

  • Education loan facility available from nationalised banks
  • Pay per use bus service for city trip for hostel students @ Rs. 100/- per trip (to & fro)

Discretionary Quota
Few Seats are reserved as Discretionary Quota Seats. Only students with high academic record are considered for Discretionary Quota Seats. The fees for Discretionary Quota Seats will be double the Academic fees for Indian Students to be paid to the University.
