    BBA in Ports & Terminal Management

    Program Details


    The Program gives students a thorough knowledge and understanding of Port and Terminal Management. It also develops relevant communication skills related to the sector. BBA in Ports & Terminal Management is three year program focused on the preparing students for Managerial roles in this sector.

    The Objectives of this programme is to teach Port sector specific syllabus to make students gain Professional Knowledge on concepts and processes in Ports and Terminals supplemented with Industry Internship to train student with multiple skills for "Hands on work" capability.

    Our endeavour is to build knowledge and skill base of the students to be able to satisfy the expectations of the industry. We take pride in enhancing the learning experience for the students by having practical classes in all the subjects in the course.

    The Program will make the student understand the role of Ports and Terminals in international trade and transport and how Ports and Terminals can benefit or detract from the economic development of countries and their sea-borne trade, understand the effect of globalisation on port choice and how changes in logistics and distribution patterns influence the development or decline of Ports and Terminals, understand the geographic reasons for port location and the extent to which this may depend on the nature of their hinterland and natural resources. The different types of Ports and Terminals and access to Ports and Terminals and the diversity of specialist port operations, the enhanced role of Ports and Terminals in a through transport context – hub and feeder Ports and Terminals, with intermodal interfaces will also be covered.

    The curriculum will also discuss the role of national, regional local government in port provision, the different forms of the ownership structure of Ports and Terminals and of port services; public/private, landlord only, full or part service provider, terminal facilities within Ports and Terminals and the use of Free Port/Free Trade Zones as an economics tool.

    Specialized Labs



    A Research lab (area 600 sq ft) has been set up for Ports &Terminals and Logistics & Supply Chain Management which is used for simulation exercises. The Lab has models of different types of ships and wall displays and charts with global information to depict the important processes of the Ports and Logistics operations. The students are called in groups to familiarize them with the course content presented in the Lab. The activities in Skill and Practical are undertaken and conducted by the faculty members. Such exposure ensures students develop transferable skills to service Logistics activities in Ports, Terminals, Ship & Custom Agency, Exim Management, Free-Trade Warehousing Zones, Freight Management, Warehousing, Multi-Modal transport and Cargo hubs. The students get trained to work in the actual work environment of Ports and Logistic sectors and sail through to deliver the last mile performance in any challenging job opportunity

    Eligibility


    • Passed XII (10+2) or equivalent course in any discipline from any recognized Board/Council/University with minimum 50% marks for general (open) category and 45% marks for students of reserved category.
    • Candidates are selected based on Personal interview conducted by the University.
    • While deciding the eligibility of the Candidates following procedure shall be adopted-

      (a) The percentage of marks shall be calculated by rounding off to nearest integer. i.e. if the percentage of marks comes out to be 49.50% to 49.99% then it shall be rounded to 50% and if the percentage of marks comes out to be 49.01% to 49.49% shall be rounded to 49% for deciding the eligibility.

      (b) In case the maximum marks in an individual subject is other than 100, the marks will be converted out of 100 for individual subject without rounding, If sum of the converted marks of individual subjects without rounding off works out to be a figure with fraction then fraction up to two decimal places shall only be considered for calculation of percentage of marks considering maximum marks as 300 and, If the percentage comes in fraction, then rounding off shall be done as above to decide the eligibility.

      NRI / International Students


      A candidate who has completed XII (10+2) or equivalent examination from any Foreign Board must obtain an equivalent certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). All foreign qualifications need to be verified from Association of Indian Universities (AIU) by the candidate before seeking provisional admission to any program of Symbiosis Skills & Professional University (SSPU). In order to promote international understanding between Indian and Foreign students, SSOU has reserved 5% seats for NRIs/International students in every division.

    NOTE:- *Hostel is optional for Under graduation students.

    Note 1 Academic Fees includes Tuition fees, Regular exam fees, Library books & e-journals, Laboratory fees , Practical and Skills Journal. These fees are refundable according to UGC policy. Backlog Exam Fee shall be charged separately. Medical Fees of Rs. 7,000/- for basic medical facilities on campus are Non-Refundable.

    Note 2

    • Hostel & Mess Fees include Hostel Stay and Mess/Dining charges.
    • Laundry facility is available to student on payment basis.

    Note 3

    • Academic fees shall be increased up to 15% each year as per the University policies during the period of the program at the discretion of the Management.
    • Revised fees will be applicable to new and existing students.

    Other Notes

    • In case a crash course is conducted, a separate fee between Rs.5,000 to Rs.10,000 will be charged. The same shall be notified separately.
    • Nominal fees of Rs.500/- is charged for every non-credit mandatory IDSC course per student.
    • Education loan facility available from nationalised banks.
    • Pay per use bus service for city trip for hostel students @ Rs. 100/- per trip (to & fro).

    Discretionary Quota 5% Seats are reserved as Discretionary Quota Seats. Only students with high academic record are considered for Discretionary Quota Seats. The fees for Discretionary Quota Seats will be double the Academic fees for Indian Students to be paid to the University.

    • Start of any academic program is subject to minimum enrolment. In case a program does not commence, student will be refunded entire fees as well as the application form charges.
