Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch)

The B. Arch has been mapped to the job roles in demand in the Industry. During the program tenure student shall go through skill enhancement comprising internship and integrated seminar & workshops on selected topic working on real time problem with application of scientific methods. "

The Primary objectives of the B. Arch is to focus on sustainable architecture, watershed management, waste management, renewable energy technologies, building simulation, acoustics, thermal comfort, project management and traditional and modern building technologies, to address the contemporary challenges in the field of Interiors and Architecture, through the professionally developed courses structure relevant to modern practices prevalent in the architecture world. The Architecture curriculum centers on the design of new buildings and places (urban/suburban/rural) including various functional and conceptual topics related to multiple housing strategies, institutions, mixed-use, public facilities, hi-rise, urban strategies, and land planning fundamentals, facades and details. Design coursework covers professional, technical, and theoretical topics concerning: architectural history; technical coursework in environmental controls systems; structures and tectonics; building enclosures and advanced building technology; sustainability integration; vernacular and regional studies, as well as other cultural and context-based studies.

We intend to develop the School as a catalyst for changing the creative scenario of architecture and design in the country. SSOU has actively engaged practicing architects to steer the curriculum and academic prowess of its faculty.
Students will get a lot of opportunities to showcase their creativity and ingenuity while designing structures. Like an inventor who goes about making and designing new gadgets, students will be given the opportunity to design new buildings.

Both staff and students work together like a single unit in an atmosphere conducive to which fosters healthy academic environment conducive to development.

Salient features of B. Arch Program

  • Architectural Design Learning is focused on spatial experiences and live case studies.
  • Building Technology will provide hands on learning through carpentry workshops, construction yards & site visits.
  • In Architectural graphics, students will be trained in sketching, 3-D software and various rendering techniques.
  • Model making workshop is a highlight of our program wherein students will work at various scales experimenting with different materials.
  • In state of the art CAD/CAM Centre, students will simulate climatic data and structural systems.
  • Art Room will facilitate the students to develop creative skills like painting, mural making, clay modelling etc.

A central part of architectural education is the design studio, in which students learn through hands-on experience in design. This kind of learning is demanding and students are expected to be committed and work independently and responsibly toward program and course objectives.

The labs are equipped with latest architectural and other related softwares like AutoDesk Architectural Desktop, 3Dmax, Photoshop, CorelDraw, Page Maker, MS Office etc. There are architectural studios with drawing boards, well-furnished lecture halls and tutorial rooms; and other facilities for audiovisual presentations with the aid of LCD and overhead projectors.

Architectural BIM (Building Information Modelling), MEP BIM & CAD Technologies Labs will be set up to give students’ expertise in Architectural Design Technologies and Visualization.

Construction training yard for providing practical experience in scaffolding, tiling and brick laying will also be set up on the campus. Specialized skill training labs for Piping & Plumbing, Lighting & Acoustics, Smart Homes etc are also planned.

Five years

Passed 10+2 (Or) 10+3 Diploma Examination with Mathematics as compulsory subject having obtained at least 50% marks (45% in case of candidate belonging to reserved category) marks in Aggregate
And
Qualifying NATA (Or) Any other Aptitude Test conducted by Competent Authority of the State Government.

While deciding the eligibility of the Candidates following procedure shall be adopted -
(a) The percentage of marks shall be calculated by rounding off to nearest integer. i.e. if the percentage of marks comes out to be 44.50% to 44.99% then it shall be rounded to 45% and if the percentage of marks comes out to be 44.01% to 44.49% shall be rounded to 44% for deciding the eligibility.

(b) In case the maximum marks in an individual subject is other than 100, the marks will be converted out of 100 for individual subject without rounding, If sum of the converted marks of individual subjects without rounding off works out to be a figure with fraction then fraction up to two decimal places shall only be considered for calculation of percentage of marks considering maximum marks as 300 and, If the percentage comes in fraction, then rounding off shall be done as above to decide the eligibility.
